Ice Bear PST150-11 Trike - Muffler Repair

Stock muffler is stainless steel, for a stock muffler it's not to awfully restricted, but it is held together w/ stainless rivets. Needless to say they start coming apart w/ in a short period of time. So far I haven't found any after market high performance exhaust for the ICE BEAR Trikes, as they are about 1/2 - 2/3 the legth of a 2 wheel scoot muffler, & the head pipe on the ICE BEAR has slightly different bends for a close profile. The best fix I could see was to drill or grind all the rivets, & w/ a punch, punch the rivet through, pull ends out enough to get rivets out, so the rivet aren't rattling around in the muffler. Slip end back into position & MIG weld w/ stainles steel wire, weld all the way around both ends & rivet holes, clean up welds w/ abrasive fabric grinding wheel, polish muffler w/ a metal polish, then reinstall muffler on trike. Done, one reconditioned stainless steel muffler which should hold up for a long time, or until some one starts stocking after market performance parts for these trikes. Here's a pic of the one I did for my trike. I'm not a profesional welder, I'm more use to welding thicker material, this was the first time I ever welded stainless steel. Muffler looked desent when finished, pic not so great because of the glare..

Awesome fix. The rivets are one of the main complaints of the Trike owners here in town. There is a guy here in town I'm working with on making custom exhaust for scooters, but I should get him building some for these trikes. He builds custom parts and racing bikes.
